The
Buccaneer Diving Instructors.
We believe in promoting local talent at Buccaneer Diving and nearly
every single one of our Instructors did their Instructor training
with us in Mombasa. In fact a number of our Instructors joined us
as salesmen, tank carriers or dive guides and have worked their way
up to Instructor in our development programs through hard work and
enthusiasm. Most also have further training
and are also Padi Emergency First Response Instructors with Specialty
Instructor qualifications. All our Instructors are passionate about
the sea and are very experienced in diving the sites along the Mombasa
Coastline. All our Instructors are fluent in English and if we include
all the languages spoken fluently by our Instructors we can also teach
diving in French, Italian, German, Dutch, Arabic and Swahili. |

'Junior'
Twalal Karim: Chief Instructor and Master Mechanic.
Junior was born in Mombasa and comes from
an ocean loving family, as such he knows the oceans in this part of
the world well. Junior trained to be an Instructor with Buccaneer
Diving after which he worked as a dive Instructor in Zanzibar before
returning to Mombasa to work with Buccaneer. He is a Padi Open Water
Scuba Instructor whose Specialty Instructor Ratings include the teaching
of Padi Enriched Air (Nitrox) and Deep Diver Specialty. Junior is
also an Emergency First Response Instructor. He speaks fluent Italian,
Arabic, Swahili and also English. |

Baya
Msanzu Baya : Certified Oceanic Regulator Technician and Voyager
Instructor.Baya is from Mombasa and originally
joined us as a salesman. His natural apptitude for languages (he
speaks fluent Swahili, English, German and passable French) combined
with his technical skills and enthusiasm for the ocean and diving
made it an easy choice for us to bring him to Instructor level.
Baya works out of Voyager mainly but does travel to other bases
when his language skills are required |

Claire
Barker : Whitesands Instructor.
Claire is one of Buccaneer Diving's female
Padi Open Water Scuba Instructors as well as being a Padi Emergency
First Response Instructor. Her love of the sea and diving on this
coast were instrumental in her leaving her job in London to move out
here and become a full-time scuba instructor. Claire is also responsible
for the Buccaneer shop, designing new products and Buccaneer clothing. |
|
Levavie
Indieka : Voyager instructor.
Lev is a Kenyan Citizen who joined us after
completing his IDC in Florida USA where he was gaining his degree
in Aerospace Systems Engineering. Lev is incredibly passionate about
all kinds of diving and simply does not believe that there is such
a thing as a bad dive! In fact he spends most of his leisure time
night diving where he continues to hone his skills with his underwater
camera. |
|
Herbert
Tsofwa: Sun and Sand instructor.
Herbert works out ofthe Sun and Sand Hotel
where he is known as 'The Professor'. Herbert is from Malindi originally
where he gained a huge amount of experience working as a dive guide. |
|
Adam
Boya : Whitesands instructor.
Adam works out of Whitesands Hotel together
with Claire. Adam also brings a wealth of experience with him from
the SouthCoast of Kenya. Adam is a cool customer whose unflappable
approach makes him very useful on those really busy days! |
|
Alphonce
Kazungu : Sun and Sand instructor.
Alphonce works out of Sun and Sand where he
is known as Mr Cross for reasons lost in time. Alphonce also has a
natural ability with languages and speaks fluent Swahili, English,
German, French and Italian. His enthusiasm and great sense of humour
makes him one of our most popular instructors. |
|
Polar
Hamza: Voyager instructor.
Polar is our hardest working Instructor! Originally
from Shimoni, Polar has lived in Mombasa for several years. Again,
Polar is totally unflappable and cool and just loves to dive! |
|
The
Buccaneer Divemasters (all our dive guides are qualified Padi Divemasters).
Buccaneer Diving only uses qualified Padi
Divemasters as dive guides. All our divemasters have experience diving
the sites along the Mombasa coastline. They know the names of, and
where to find, all the most exciting marine life at each site and
will happily point it out to everyone diving with them. Nearly all
of our Divemasters have trained with us for all the Padi courses from
Open Water through to the Divemaster qualification. |
