Our Intern Philosophy - Internship Programs- Buccaneer Diving - 5 Star PADI IDC Centre, Kenya, Zanzibar

Our extensive experience in diver training and the running of intern programs has shown us that the best way to learn about diving is to be practically involved with it. This means that while you are diving as an intern at the bases you will be treated as one of the Buccaneer Diving staff. With this responsibility you will be expected to adhere to time, dress and behaviour codes that our staff are subject to.

The following points will help you to maximize your internship experience: Have fun! Becoming a diving instructor is very much a lifestyle choice and in our opinion one of the most important aspects of this program is for you to enjoy what you are doing. Dedicate yourself fully to the program – try to avoid spending time and effort on other projects.

We have a number of experienced Instructors of a wide variety of nationalities.

We recommend that you spend time at different bases dive mastering for each Instructor as you will learn many different techniques, and can then adapt these to suit your own teaching style.

There is always opportunity to learn new skills, such as equipment maintenance, sales and customer care. The more you do, the more you learn.

Spend time at the smaller bases to develop you sales technique. Whilst you are here look for other ways to develop yourself as an instructor.

During the mandatory equipment specialty program we will teach you the basics of equipment maintenance and compressor use. Practise what you have learnt.

Dive as often as you can and learn your way around the local reefs, after all, that’s what you are really here to do
